Another Seattle Dresser

085
By popular demand, I did another Seattle inspired dresser.
This time I used Paris Grey as the background color and the Old White on the top.
This is a before shot of the dresser.
It had great bones and a whopping five  large drawers for storage.

The downside?  Well it had a weird sort of plastic veneer on the top and the drawer fronts.  So….I sanded them all down and gave the surface a good quality primer coat.
It worked out well.  The surface was ready to accept the chalk paint beautifully.

I ended up painting the cool handles in the Paris Grey also.  That way they kind of disappear into the background of the subway aart.

OK…I’m ready for May…are you?
Spring is in full swing here in the Pacific Northwest…
hope you’re feeling the spirit of spring also.

Eat More Vegetables

002

I picked up this great wood cabinet with shelving inside last week.
I decided to do my version of “family rules” on it in Old White and Graphite ASCP.
It makes me smile and reflects sentiments which are near and dear to me.
As far as the “eat more vegetables”.  I have significantly increased my vegetable consumption over the last several months and fell so much better.  It works!
I can see this cabinet working in so many different rooms…great storage with STYLE.

Here's what it looked like BEFORE.   It definitely fit my criteria of being well-made, sturdy, and having GREAT BONES

Signs For Love

006
Happy Monday my blog friends!

Here’s a couple of signs I finished up a few days ago.
I think they are both perfect wedding gifts or signs to display at the entrance to a wedding reception….
Don’t you?

Featured In A Magazine!

modellife
Just had to share this with you all…
One of my girl’s dress forms was featured in a layout for an e-magazine – Model Life.
Here’s the photo with the beautiful young model.
I wrap each of my dress forms in uncut vintage dressmaker’s pattern paper.
When the editor received the form, she decided to turn the pattern paper into a beautiful “dress” for her model.
SO PROJECT RUNWAY!, right?
I’m honored to have my form displayed in this great magazine.
Thanks so much Chelsea!
Here are a few more shots, I apologize they are not real clear..

Sweet Spring And Some Tables

078
Well…spring finally came to Eastern Washington this morning.
Daffodils.
Hyacinth.
Green grass.
And some table makeovers..
I worked on a traditional style white console table that I had pulled out of the guest cottage and two Plain Jane end tables purchased at a yard sale.
Here’s a “before” of the console table (I didn’t snap any of the side tables…darn!)

I was feeling the diamond/harlequin pattern for all three of these tables…

These great knobs from Hobby Lobby worked great on the side tables…

I used both the clear and dark wax on these pieces….

They are definitely different than they started out…
Hopefully  someone will fall in love with their unique look and want to bring them home…

The Rest Of The Guest House Photos

038 (768x1024)
Here’s some more pictures of the guest house.
I love that I was able to bring the outside “in” with the chartreuse and white fabric drapery panels.
What a difference it makes!
I also made a fun sign as a homage to my sweet Yellow  Lab, Bella.

It provides some whimsy and just the right pop of color above the cabinets.

I love the fact that I was able to do such a nice little upgrade on a budget.
Let the sun shine in!
Happy Easter to all of you…May it be a day filled with faith and family.
